Our Office
Dourron OB/Gyn Associates, P.C. is a private practice, single-specialty group consisting of three board-certified obstetrician/gynecologists and a board-certified nurse practitioner. The practice is devoted to obstetrics and gynecology, including infertility, endocrinology, laser surgery, and family planning. We are actively involved in the management of high-risk obstetrics as well as normal pregnancy. Both of our offices are equipped with a laboratory, ultrasound equipment, minor procedure and non-stress testing areas. Additionally, a wide array of patient education materials in English and Spanish are available both in the office and from your doctor. We want our patients to actively participate in their care, whatever the issue: management of uterine fibroids, menopausal symptoms, or pregnancy planning.
OBSTETRICS
We offer comprehensive obstetric care, including pre-pregnancy counseling, routine and high risk pre-natal care, and post partum care and counseling. Other services include ultrasound, cerclage, genetic counseling, non-stress testing, biophysical profile, vaginal birth after cesarean, primary elective cesarean, birth plans, childbirth education classes, breastfeeding classes, nutritionist. Because of the unique nature of obstetrical care, we recommend that our obstetric patients be seen by all our physicians and certified nurse practitioners on a rotating basis. We want you to feel comfortable with and confident in each of us, and we want to be as fully informed about you, as well. Babies do not necessarily arrive on schedule, and by being completely familiar with your medical circumstances (as well as your individual needs and preferences), you can be assured that your birthing experience will be as satisfying as it should be - on schedule or not.
GYNECOLOGY
We offer comprehensive gynecologic services, including adolescent gynecology, first pelvic, progressive pelvic, menopause and PMS counseling and management, gynecologic cancer screening, as well as referral for health screening such as mammography, bone density scanning, colonoscopy. We offer both the new "liquid-based ThinPrep® and SurePath Pap smear tests and reflex HPV testing of atypical Pap smears to reduce the need for unnecessary colposcopies. Complete contraceptive counseling/services are available such as the Pill, emergency contraception, DepoProvera®, I.U.D. (IntraUterine Device), including both the Paragard T380A® and the Mirena®, and tubal sterilization (featuring the Filshie Clip®), both laparoscopic and post-partum. The latest contraceptive technologies are also available and include the NuvaRing®, the Ortho Evra™ patch and extended cycle contraception (also known as safely skipping your periods!). We now feature the Essure® "no scar" tubal sterilization as an office procedure. No more long hospital waits, with rapid return to normal activities! We offer a comprehensive range of surgical procedures performed in the office or in the hospital including colposcopy, cryosurgery, LEEP/LLETZ, hysteroscopic removal of polyps and fibroids, treatment of endometriosis through advanced operative laparoscopy, laser surgery, and GnRH agonist therapy (Lupron®, Synarel®); urogynecology, including minimally invasive surgical correction of stress urinary incontinence (including the TVT "sling" procedure), and correction of pelvic relaxation/prolapse, using laparoscopic and vaginal surgical techniques; infertility diagnosis and treatment, including hysterosalpingography, polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS] (including Glucophage® and other insulin sensitizing therapy), pituitary disorders, amenorrhea, ovulation induction (Clomid, Letrozole), and recurrent miscarriage; advanced minimally invasive vaginal and laparoscopic approaches to hysterectomy; and alternatives to hysterectomy for treatment of abnormally heavy periods, including cryoablation. In-hospital care is provided at Dekalb Medical Center. Consultations and referrals will be made with other specialists when appropriate.
